How it works

Change one thing. Keep the rest still. Read what moved.

Steepwise is setup, not a slideshow. Tell it how you brew and what's in your cupboard, and it works out the leaf, heat and pours for you.

1

Shelve your tins

Tap the teas you already own. Steepwise knows thirty styles — from Sencha to Shou Pu'er — and tracks how many grams are left.

2

Steep by the clock

Pot or short pours. Every infusion is timed on a ladder, and a gentle chime tells you when to pour.

3

Read the cup

Mark five axes the same way every time and tag the notes you find. Each cup is kept in your journal.

4

Walk a footpath

Guided experiments change one lever — heat, time or leaf — so you can see exactly what it does to your tea.

BodyWeight on the tongue. Water is 0, broth is 5.
SweetnessNatural sweetness, often after you swallow.
BrightnessLift and liveliness, a little like acidity.
GripDryness on the gums and cheeks. Astringency.
FinishHow long the taste stays once the cup is down.

A palette that lights up

64 flavour notes in eight families. Every note you find lights a square of your palette — and quests nudge you to taste further.

Forest floorBlossomOrchard

Grow a night grove

Every tea style you read plants a tree. Thirty styles, eight regions, from the Fern Glade to the Night Meadow.

Blind tastings with a friend

Hand the phone to your pourer. They brew cup A and cup B and hide the answer — you read both and name the tea.

Ask the Warden

An optional AI mentor. Ask why a cup went bitter, what to try with a tin, or which notes to hunt next — it only sees what you choose to share.

The night grove

Eight tea families, eight regions to explore

Brew from every corner of the forest and watch your grove fill in, one tree at a time.

Green

Fern Glade

Low ferns, wet grass, the first light of spring leaf.

White

Birch Clearing

Pale trunks and quiet air. Soft, honeyed, slow to speak.

Light oolong

Mist Ridge

Fog on a high slope. Flowers and cream in the cup.

Roasted

Ember Ridge

Charcoal warmth under the pines. Toast, stone, dark sugar.

Black

Hollow Oaks

Broad old oaks. Malt, cocoa, dried fruit.

Sheng pu'er

Old Cedar Deep

Resin and camphor in the deepest stand of cedar.

Dark & shou

Peat Hollow

Earth after rain, peat and old wood.

Herbal

Night Meadow

An open meadow at night. Flowers and leaves, no tea bush.

Every note you find lights a square of your palette.

Your journal stays on your phone

No name, email or account. No analytics, advertising or tracking. Tins, cups and footpaths live in one private database on your device — there is no server holding a copy.
